Description
On Sunday, April 6 1941, during a bombing raid, the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade was completely destroyed. The entire collection of the Library, holding valuable authentic medieval manuscripts, went up in flames. The National Library of Serbia was founded on February 28 1832, and, until April 6 1941, had in its possession some 300,000 printed books and 1390 manuscripts, charters and other writings dating from the 12th, 13th and 14th century.
