With around six kilometers of organized beaches, the Sava Lake at Ada Ciganlija is the biggest open swimming area in the Republic of Serbia.During the summer swimming season, up to 150,000 visitors come here every day. The beaches of the Sava Lake are fully cultivated and equipped with the necessary infrastructure, making this one of the largest and most beautiful man-made swimming ponds in Europe. The quality of the Sava Lake water is at an exceptionally high level. The beaches of the Sava Lake have been awarded a ‘Blue Flag’, the highest international prize for quality in tourism, environmental protection and safety in the swimming area, which requires meeting extremely strict demands set by important international factors that primarily refer to water quality and beach safety. During the swimming season,qualified and profesionally equipped rescue teams guard the beaches, so it’sno surprise that, according to official statistics, the Sava Lake is one of Europe’s safest swimming areas. Due to its clean and crystal clear waters, organized beaches and parks, and its location in the immediate vicinity of the city center, the Sava Lake is a unique destination that shouldn’t be missed by both local and foreign tourists. With its many sports and recreation facilities, places for practicing adrenalin sports but also various bars and restaurants, this is an attractive location to visit all year round.
